Pictures at Disneyland

California

We went to California last week and I wanted to tell about it.

It was a long drive to get there. We bought 2 new set of wireless headphones so we could have a total of 4 (1 for each kid) so they wouldn't fight over them. (my kids can always find something to fight about)

And guess what.. They found something to fight about and it was who got to use the new headphones. I kept telling them that the same sound would come out of each of the headphones, but they didn't care. No one wanted the old ones with the batteries that kept falling out.

Carlos has reminded them before that kids in Guatemala would love to just ride in a nice car, or any car for the matter, let alone watch a movie while riding in the car. My kids just roll their eyes everytime he starts with "you know what....

Because it always relates to someone having less than we do, living worse than we do, appreciating things more than we do, behaving better than we do, respecting people more than we do, loving more then we do, cleaning more than we do, cooking more than we do. ;) You know what I mean.

He was raised in Guatemala where he had nothing and only got to eat tortillas and salt with lime, a little bit or rice and black beans and his mom would whip up 1 egg so fluffy that it would make an omelet big enough for the family of 10 to each have a little piece and then if they were lucky on special occasions they would get to share a small bottle of coca cola. Each person would get just a swig. Carlos is a great husband and father just grew up different than us. I will have to blog about Guatemala later.

Anyway, I got of the subject of our trip to Disneyland. Sorry.

It was long drive but we made it and stayed 3 nights with Jenae and her family in Oceanside, CA.
The area she lives in is Awesome! They have a nice new house that they shared with us. Thanks Jenae and Blake! And if they had a Stouffers close by it would be tempting to move there.

The day after we got there we went to the beach for the day. It was great. We took all of her beach equipment and her little boy and spent the day in the sun with a nice breeze. We even tried out the boogie boards and that was a blast.

**I don't know how to put pictures where I want them so the pictures are seperate from the story**

The next day we went to the harbor for 'Harbor Days' and walked around and the kids got to climb all over a real hovercraft and other big tough navy things. Now looking back I miss the beach and wished we would have just lounged on the beach another day which our skin wouldn't have liked because a few of us got a nasty burn the first day. Anyways, maybe next time.

We ate at In and Out Burger just because we could. It is a very basic burger experience. Good for people who can't make their minds up about what to order. You have the choice between a burger with 1 or 2 patties, fries, drinks and shakes(chocolate, strawberry or vanilla). Salt and Ketchup for the fries.

Then the next day we headed out EARLY to make it to Disneyland for our Magic Morning early entrance. We were up at the front of the line.

But the early start to the morning took away some of the Magic! All the kids were grumpy and not excited about being at the HAPPIEST PLACE ON EARTH. But once inside they managed to get a smile on their faces.

We spent all day there until 9:30pm or so. (A little too long for waking up so early with no naps) Which was more than Caleb could handle as he was trying to fall asleep in the stroller as we walked back the 2 blocks to the hotel. He was cold and had my jacket and his across his body but I guess since we were at a MAGICAL place he expected me to MAGICALLY turn the sweaters into blankets and thus screamed the whole way back. Boy were people looking at us. Very embarrassing but what are you to do when there is no reasoning with a tired and screaming child. the more you talk the louder they scream. So we just kept walking.

The 2nd day was not an early entrance day. Thank goodness. The kids got some good sleep and we spent the day at California Adventure. The kids were SO looking forward to the tower of terror. They had seen a scary movie about it and Alex is all about trying to scare himself I think.
They loved it and ended going on it about 5 or 6 times total I think.

3rd day was at Disneyland and then after we had been on all the rides there that we wanted to we went back to our favorites at California Adventure until it closed then it was back to Disneyland because they were still open for 2 more hours. Jenae (my cousin) got some season passes and came for 2 of the days. It was a blast!

Then it was time for the ride home. Which is always a drag, That means of course the long ride (which went relatively good, Only a couple sibling breakouts, but no blood was drawn. I was suprised at how well they did in such close quarters for 11 hours straight.) And it means that the eating out would come to an end and I would have to cook and clean again.

Oh well. But it was a great trip.

New Blog

I have started this new blog because our other one was just for Guatemala.

I am horrible at keeping things up to date because there isn't too much excitement in our lives. The kids are in school, Carlos is at work from 7:30 am to 7pm 6 days a week, me and Cristian are home in the days and we run errands, shop or lounge around until everyone gets home than I get to be the referee for kids fights and the homework patrolman, and the meanest mom in the world etc.. That is about the extent of our daily lives. Exciting huh?

Well I will try to post anything even remotely exciting that happens just to keep everyone up to date.
